Description
The Ganong’s Potometer is a specialised tool used to depict and quantify plant transpiration and water absorption rates. It has a graded capillary tube with a tiny opening at one end that is bent at a right angle. The water reservoir with a glass stopcock is at the other end. This end has a tube with a rubber stopper that can hold a plant sprout. The entire device is supported by a base. This set up makes it possible to observe and measure water movement, illuminating the transpiration and water absorption processes in plants and offering a useful tool for botanical studies.
