A simple tool used to gauge how quickly a plant is absorbing water is called a potometer. A glass tube with stoppers at either end makes up the device. A capillary tube with a millimetre graduation is included in the lower stopper to enable accurate measurement of water flow. The upper stopper has two openings: one for a 2 ml syringe to manage the placement of air bubbles during setup, and another for a glass tube to hold the plant shoot, connected via a rubber tube. This potometer system makes it possible to observe and measure how much water plants are absorbing, which is helpful for studying transpiration and water transport processes in plants.

The apparatus for root pressure experiments consists of a graduated jar and a T-shaped glass tube (T-tube) with a stopcock. It doesn't need a flowerpot, in contrast to conventional arrangements. The T-tube's horizontal portion is attached to a plant stem, while its vertical portion is used to support a graduated jar. Researchers may observe the movement of water without the use of a flowerpot because as the plant's roots absorb water, root pressure drives water up into the jar.

To gauge the pressure created by sap flowing from a severed stem, a device called a root pressure manometer is employed. It has a graduated manometer that measures pressure precisely and has marks from 0 to 200 mm. Through a rubber tube or piece of tape, the manometer is fastened to the plant's clipped stem. This arrangement is perfect for plants that prefer damp soil. Researchers may measure the pressure produced by the plant's sap flow by analysing the manometer's response, which advances knowledge of root pressure and plant physiology.

A research setup called the Apparatus for Investigating Pressure Effects Due to Osmotic Pressure was created to investigate how osmotic pressure affects pressure differentials. This device enables researchers to investigate how pressure conditions within a controlled system are impacted by osmotic pressure, which results from the passage of solvent molecules over a semi-permeable membrane. Scientists can learn more about osmosis-related events and better understand the interactions between solutes and solvents across membranes by varying solute concentrations and monitoring the subsequent pressure changes. In a controlled experimental setting, this apparatus is a useful tool for examining how osmotic pressure affects pressure differentials.
